Got Your Goat

goat-1There doesn’t appear to be a proven origin for the expression, “got your goat.” One fun folk tale is about people putting goats next to race horses before a race. Apparently, the goats had a calming effect on the horses. When a person with bad intent wanted a horse to race poorly, they “got someone’s goat.”

Regardless of the origin, “got your goat” has come to mean that someone finds a way to annoy or anger you.
