In our family, we like to look around our community and see if there’s something we could do to be helpful. We challenged Matayo to become part of the family tradition. We had to admit that he would not be well suited to sorting food at the local food bank. Also, the soup kitchen said that he is not the “type” of helper that would work well for them. After much thought, he agreed that he did have a few toys that he could donate to the local animal shelter. Before committing to the donation, he insisted that I promise to keep buying him new toys.
